Altec Lansing debuts T612 iPhone dock
Monday, January 7, 2008 @ 10:35am

Altec Lansing has unveiled its T612 digital audio system for Apple's iPhone and iPod, offering users sound with iPhone incoming call support. The T612 ensures that when a call comes in while music is playing, the iPhone gives priority to the call by pausing the music. Once the call is completed, the iPhone is re-docked in the T612 and the music resumes playing at the same song and place. The T612 is priced at $200 and will ship in February.

Altec Lansing is displaying the new device at the CES trade show in South Hall, Booth no. 20913. Support for internal GSM shielding keeps the speakers from picking up potential intermittent noises emitted by the iPhone or other mobile devices, according to the company, while neodymium speakers and XdB bass-enhancement technology improve audio reproduction as well as bass response.

The T612 includes Apple's Universal Dock to play as well as charge all iPhone and new-generation iPod models, and the rear of the T612 provides a standard auxiliary-in jack for connection to older iPod models or other audio devices.

Altec Lansing's new system comes with a wireless remote for iPod song navigation functionality that controls power, volume, current track, play/pause, and separate Bass and Treble controls.

"Altec Lansing has a long history of engineering innovative, high-performance audio products: such as the first speakers used in a feature-length talkie movie in 1927 and the first iPod audio dock in 2003," said Vicki Marion, president, Altec Lansing. "We believe Apple enthusiasts will welcome the impressive sound, music controls and call support features that make the T612 a perfect companion for both the iPod and the iPhone."
