DJ-1800 v3.2 supports Nicecast, more
Tuesday, August 19, 2008 @ 9:05pm

A new version of the professional DJ software DJ-1800 has been released for Mac. Version 3.2 supports the Hercules DJ Rmx controller and improves iPhone and iPod touch integration. Full support for Nicecast, an internet broadcasting application, allows users to share their mixes. DJ-1800 is a complete system, not requiring any hardware mixers or CD players. A full plug-in API allows the integration of any DJ controller.

Using DJ-1800 with Nicecast from Rogue Amoeba lets users create their own internet radio stations. Along with Hercules controller support the Denon DN-HC4500, M-Audio X-Session Pro, Numark DMC2, Numark iCDX, and Numark Total Control can be used without the user creating a plug-in.

Pitch-lock can be used to lock a track's pitch while adjusting the tempo +/- 10 percent. Four CD players are emulated, and a virtual jog wheel can be used for position finding or as a shuttle dial to scan up to +/- 8x speed. The program can automatically find a track's true start point and find its BPM value. An Autogain feature automatically adjusts the tracks volume.

The four channel mixer allows crossfade, master/headphone output, and cue VU monitoring. Music from iTunes, an iPhone, or iPod touch can be used. Startpoint, Autogain, and BPM values can be saved to the user's music libraries. DJ-1800 v3.2 requires Mac OS 10.4.9+ and QuickTime 7.3+ and is available from www.dj1800.com for download as a free trial or $80 as a full version.
