There is nothing I saw that indicated it uses a hardware menu button. Then again, I don't know what one would call a 'hardware menu button'.

The hardware menu button is the 2nd button from the left in the above images. It's the same hardwired menu button RIM has been using for years. It's the one with a bunch of little dots on it, also known as the BB button.

not owning one, I wouldn't know what it was. Then again, reading the text of the posting, there's no mention of a need to hit that button. It says 'click in the middle' which implies, to me at least, your just hitting it with the finger.
