Apple Internet head Eddy Cue joins Ferrari directors
Wednesday, November 7, 2012 @ 3:42pm

The head of Internet software and services at Apple, Eddy Cue, has taken a position on Ferrari's board of directors, according to an announcement. "I am delighted that Eddy Cue, one of the main driving forces behind Apple’s range of revolutionary products, has now joined our board," reads a statement from Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo. "His huge experience in the dynamic, innovative world of the Internet will be of great assistance to us."

"I am pleased and proud to become a member of the board," Cue is quoted as saying. "I have personally dreamed of owning a Ferrari since I was 8 years old and have been lucky to be an owner for the past 5 years. I continue to be awed by the world-class design and engineering that only Ferrari can do." Ferrari's plans for Cue are unknown, but could potentially signal some form of cooperation with Apple. Earlier this year di Montezemolo revealed that he had had a two-hour meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook, if only to talk corporate strategies and management styles. The Ferrari chairman said he learned about Apple's focus on design, simplicity, and "passion for product." Separately, in March, Apple was reportedly looking at hiring automotive engineers in China, including a supervisor "with experience in CNC/die casting/stamping/plastic injection," according to the job listing. In iOS 6 Apple implemented a feature called "Eyes Free," allowing people with supporting cars to control Siri without having to reach for their iPhone or iPad. Ferrari, however, isn't among the current partner companies.
