The long-rumored browser version of music streaming service Spotify is apparently close to release, as reports have the company testing out a browser-based app in a limited beta session. Reports emerged today that the Spotify web player was indeed available in some regions, though Electronista's attempts at verifying this have been inconclusive. The company appears to be rolling out its web player gradually, with a layout that reportedly looks much like its desktop counterparts.
The Verge has been able to verify with sources close to Spotify that the web player is online. It includes a search feature, Spotify Radio, playslist editing and creation, and a "What's New" section. Reportedly, the service will remain free to use in its browser version, but it will also include ads like its desktop versions. The web player is not meant to replace Spotify's desktop apps.
