Skype brings in-store, online gift card scheme to the US
Tuesday, November 20, 2012 @ 9:51am

Skype has launched its gift card scheme in the US in time for the holiday season. Mirroring the same promotional efforts in Mexico and the United Kingdom, Microsoft has put both digital and physical versions of the prepaid Skype credit on sale, which can be used towards subscriptions as well as flat credit international calling.

The physical version, complete with a scratch panel on the back that hides the code, is said to be on sale in Microsoft Stores, as well as branches of Target and OfficeMax. Digital gift cards can be bought through Skype's online store or through Facebook, with the email optionally delivered with a personal image, photograph or video. While the in-store cards will be restricted to just Mexico, the UK, and the US, the online gift cards are live to buy in 44 countries, and start from $10.
