Briefly: Google Image tweak, Dish wireless
Wednesday, December 12, 2012 @ 6:51pm

The world's largest search engine has made changes to its image search algorithm, changes that make it a bit more difficult to find explicit content in the course of a simple search. Google rolled out the changes for its main US site today, and the changes apparently have yet to filter down to its international sites. The changes, apparently, were first discovered by social news site Reddit, and they make it so that users will have to be a bit more explicit in their searches in order to turn up pornographic and not-safe-for-work content.

Dish Network wins smartphone service approval Dish Network's proposal to offer smartphone service has been approved by the US Federal Communications Commission, it was revealed today. The regulatory agency approved the proposal in a 5-o vote, according to agency and Dish spokespersons, who tell Bloomberg that Dish will continue to consider its strategic options with regard to using the spectrum is holds. The FCC requested that Dish allow part of its spectrum to be used as a guard band to preserve the quality of government-owned frequencies. Doing so would decrease the value of certain of Dish's bands, which have attracted the attention of Sprint.
