Briefly: Digital RAW update; new Epson, Lexmark drivers
Thursday, December 13, 2012 @ 10:20pm

Apple has issued a handful of minor updates in the past few days, including an update to its Raw file support for a clutch of recently released cameras. The 4.02 update to Digital Camera RAW Compatibility adds file compatibility to Aperture 3.x and iPhoto '11 for the Nikon CoolPix P7700, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH3, three Sony cameras and three Olympus models. The Sony cameras added are the Alpha NEX-5R, NEX-6 and SLT-A99, while the Olympus models are the PEN E-PL5, PEN E-PM2 and Stylus XZ-2.

The download is just 5MB in size and requires either OS X Lion 10.7.5 or later, or OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 or later. It's available either through Software Update on machines with Aperture or iPhoto installed, or users can download it directly from Apple's Support Downloads page. A list of other camera models currently supported can be found here. Epson, Lexmark printer drivers updated for 10.6 and later Printer drivers for Epson and Lexmark models have been updated by Apple for Macs running OS X 10.6 and higher. The Epson package v2.28 is of a substantial size (though users will see it customized to just the printers they have previously added) and offers an update for a number of printers, while the Lexmark release (v3.0) is very minor and only adds support for a handful of newly-released printers. The Epson models affected include the entire ES scanner lineup, adding support for the new ES-D350; the Expression scanner line; the F-3200, and the entire GT scanner lineup (adding support for the GT-S55, the GT-S640/F740, and the GT-S85). The entire Perfection line of scanners has also been updated, including new support for the V37/V370 model. Updated or added Epson printers include bringing in the L550 and L555 series; the Epson M100 and 105 printers and the M200 and 205 printer/scanner units; adding the PX-K150 and PX-K701 printers as well as the PX-K751F AIO, and the WF-M1030 printer and the WF-M1560 AIO. The entire update is 1.04GB in size and requires OS X 10.6.0 or higher. The Lexmark update is comparatively modest, only adding in new models including the CX-310, CX-410 and CX-510 series (both the print/scan versions as well as the print/scan/fax variants); the MS-710 series printer; the MX-310 through MX-810 series (both print/scan and print/scan/fax), and the new XC and XM models of standalone printers and fax machines (all models). The update is just over 181MB in size for the combo update, and requires OS X 10.6 or higher.
