Withings outs Smart Body Analyzer, Smart Activity Tracker

Accessory maker Withings has unveiled two new products at CES. The Smart Body Analyzer is nominally a weight scale, but also tracks figures for body fat and heart rate, which are transmitted to the Withings Health Mate app for iOS and Android. The scale even records air temperature and carbon dioxide levels, since these can potentially lead to health complications.



The SBA connects to other devices via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and is powered by four AAA batteries, which should last roughly one year. A release is expected later this quarter at a price of $150. The Smart Activity Tracker is Withings' entry into the field of portable fitness trackers like the Nike FuelBand. It pairs with an iOS device via Bluetooth, and can record data on figures like steps, distance traveled, and sleep quality. One distinguishing trait is the ability to monitor heart rate; like the Smart Body Analyzer, it syncs with the Withings Health Mate app. A built-in rechargeable battery supplies the SAT with about two weeks of power. No price or release date has been announced.
