Nikon shipping D5200 DSLR camera by end of January in US
Tuesday, January 8, 2013 @ 7:59am

Nikon will be shipping the 24.1-megapixel D5200 DSLR camera in the United States later this month. The follow-up to the D5100, announced in November last year, will be making its way to North America at the end of January at the same time as a number of accessories, including a number of wireless remotes and adapters that will work with the camera.

Sharing a similar external casing to the D5100, the main changes in the D5200 relate to its DC-format CMOS sensor, combined with the EXPEED 3 image processor. Autofocus has also been reworked to include 39-points of focusing instead of 11 from the previous version, and now includes nine cross-type sensors. Metering has also been improved, with the D5200 using a 2,016-pixel RGB metering sensor that has five times the pixels of before. The UI has also been modernized, along with a new stereo microphone upgrade, and support for smartphone sharing via the WU-1a wireless mobile adapter. The D5200 will be $900 on release, combined with an AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens, and will be available in a choice of black, red, and bronze coloring. Alongside the D5200, Nikon will also be releasing the WR-T10 Wireless Remote Controller for $95, WR-R10 Wireless Remote Transciever for $125, and WR-A10 Wireless Remote Adapter for $75. A package combining a number of products into a wireless remote controller set will also be available, at $275.
