Apple TV coming to South Africa on January 18

The Apple TV will go on sale in South Africa this Friday, local Apple distributor Core Group has announced. The set-top should typically cost 1,099 rand, or about $125 US. Pricing may vary through, as resellers like iStore, Digicape, and Makro are allowed to set their prices individually.



Apple opened the iTunes Store to South Africa just last month, finally paving the way for the Apple TV. The set-top can stream from a local computer or an iOS device, but is otherwise very dependent on movies, music, and TV shows from iTunes. In some countries, the unit has access to third-party streaming services like Netflix.
