Vine 1.0.5 update makes app 17+, adds profile blocking
Wednesday, February 6, 2013 @ 11:30am

Twitter-owned Vine Labs has released another new version of it Vine, its iOS video-sharing app. Version 1.0.5 has been reclassified from 12+ to 17+ only; the change appears to be a response to controversy over pornographic posts. At one point a porn post was featured as an "Editor's Pick" on Vine, which may have led to Apple removing it from a promoted spot in the App Store.

As an extra precaution, users can now report or block profiles. The options are accessed through a new "..." button in the app, which shows more commands. The same button can be used to share posts to Twitter or Facebook after something has already been submitted to Vine. The update also fixes several bugs, such as one that triggered a black screen and failed uploads when trying to create video on some devices. Vine is a free download, and requires an iPhone 3GS or any later iOS device.
