Photo depicts alleged vibration motor for low-cost iPhone
Thursday, April 11, 2013 @ 10:50am

A dual-head vibration motor obtained by iLab Factory may be a part for the increasingly-rumored low-cost iPhone, says Japanese site Macotakara. The site appears to imply that the dual-head motor is cheaper than the single-head, counterweighted motor in the iPhone 5. The new part is however similar to a motor linked to the iPhone 5S, which may mean that one or both reports have misinterpreted which product it's intended for.

If the component does come from a low-cost iPhone, it represents the first physical evidence of the device's existence. While numerous industry sources have claimed the hardware is coming, until now none of the parts leaks that normally foreshadow an iPhone launch have been attached to the rumors. Such leaks typically happen a few months before a model enters mass production.
