Grandview, MO officially added to list of Google Fiber cities
Tuesday, May 7, 2013 @ 11:57pm

Google has officially announced that Grandview, Missouri is next in line for the search engine-provided Gigabit Fiber Internet service. No timetable for deployment has been announced, with the company saying that "it will still be a while" before the fiber deployment begins and customers can subscribe to the services.

Grandview's Board of Aldermen voted to approve the service, with Google making a formal announcement shortly thereafter. Mayor Steve Dennis said that the talks with Google were very quick after the company contacted him several months ago. The city will likely be serviced off of the relatively close Kansas City deployment. In a brief blog post discussing the expansion, Google said that it still needs to "plan and engineer our network [in Grandview] first" despite the presence of the growing network in south Kansas City.
