Ex-Gartner analyst Michael Gartenberg takes marketing job at Apple
Wednesday, May 22, 2013 @ 5:48pm

Former Gartner analyst Michael Gartenberg has been hired onto Apple's marketing staff, Forbes sources say. Exactly which position he's filling is unknown, but he's expected to work under Apple's head of worldwide product marketing, Phil Schiller. Gartenberg is well-known amongst analysts; aside from employment at Gartner, he was once an analyst and partner at the Altimeter Group, and a research director at Jupiter Research.

His resume also includes a job as the VP of strategy at Interpret, a one-month stint as a Microsoft evangelist, and a position on the board of directors for the Consumer Electronics Association, best known for the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Apple may want Gartenberg to take size of trends in the electronics industry and help redirect the company's efforts.
