Dashlane 2.0 manages passwords, notes, security with UI overhaul
Thursday, May 23, 2013 @ 10:50pm

Multi-device password management and e-wallet platform Dashlane has deployed a v2.0 upgrade. This includes overhauled designs for the desktop clients, particularly on the Mac. which is now said to be "cutting edge" in its visual elements. The platform as a whole now sports a new Security Dashboard with a security score and tips, and features such as two-step/three-field logins, among various other autofill and auto-login changes. Two-factor authentication via Google Authenticator can be used for the desktop and mobile apps.

Future updates to the desktop clients will now be delivered silently and automatically. Android users have meanwhile gained in-app browsing, including auto-login and autofill support, and the ability to run their app on any screen size, up through tablets. Dashlane has dropped any gamification from the platform, citing "experience and feedback." Separately, developer AgileBits has started taking beta signups for the Mac release of another password manager, 1Password 4. The finished software is due later this year, and will presumably carry over features from the iOS release of v4, which arrived last December.
