Microsoft redesigns iOS, Android versions of OneNote
Monday, July 1, 2013 @ 2:51pm

Microsoft has debuted redesigned iPhone, iPad, and Android editions of OneNote. All three apps have been rebuilt with more reliable sync functions, as well as some background tweaks which should make it easier for Microsoft to issue updates. More significantly, notes should now appear the same across all platforms, including Windows, Windows Phone, and the web.

Notes can now use rich formatting, and content can be synced to SkyDrive Pro via a SharePoint or Office 365 account. Microsoft has removed an earlier 500-note cap, but states that the apps will only be free "for a limited time." There are are also a collection of platform-specific improvements. The iPhone version is now properly formatted for the iPhone 5, while the iPad edition uses an Office-style ribbon interface. Android users have gained access to homescreen widgets with quick actions for recording photo or new audio notes.
