Best Buy, others begin discounting just-released Haswell MacBook Airs

Apple has given Best Buy permission to discount the just-released Haswell-equipped MacBook Airs by up to $64, triggering a wave of price-matching on the new models at other online competitors. Other stores are offering the models at similar prices, or along with three-year AppleCare warranties for the lowest overall price available. The sale has had a ripple effect of also discounting the current MacBook Pro models, with discounts of up to $313 possible using promo codes from AppleInsider.



The Best Buy sale, which is running through July 20, discounts 11-inch current MacBook Air models by $50 and 13-inch models by up to $64. The company is also offering a option where three years of discounted AppleCare can be purchased, saving at least $120 off the price of the same model combined with three-year AppleCare if bought directly from Apple. B&H Photo Video, another reputable online reseller, has matched Best Buy's prices on both the discounted Haswell MBAs (11.6-inch model with either 128GB or 256GB internal storage) and the discounted AppleCare. Amazon and MacMall have also price-matched Best Buy's offer for the 11-inch models, with MacMall offering a small advantage over the others for the lowest base price thanks to a promotional offer through AppleInsider. Buyers should use these links and apply the promo code APPLEINSIDER01 to get the lowest of the listed prices for the 11-inch MBA models. Savings are also available on current-generation MacBook Pros, with discounts of up to $200 available from Best Buy and Amazon, and even more on a particular Retina model from MacMall. The Best Buy offer on current MacBook Pros sees a $200 discount on the 2.5GHz 13-inch model, which has been matched by Amazon and now sells for $999. MacMall is offering a Retina version of the same model for $1,430, but by applying the promo code APPLEINSIDER01 the price is reduced to $1,385.59, a $313 discount off list price and the lowest price available for that particular model.
