Chrome for iOS gets hooks for opening links in other Google apps
Wednesday, July 17, 2013 @ 3:59pm

Google has pushed out an important update for the iOS version of Chrome. Users can now choose to open Google-related links in appropriate apps, including Drive, Maps, YouTube, and Google+. Previously, tapping links would take people to the content's web counterparts.

Other upgrades include access to browser history and an iPad version of fullscreen mode. Voice search has been improved to always show toolbar controls, and provide text-to-speech for all variations of English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Japanese, and Korean. New bandwidth management settings in the browser will let people consume less data, but that feature is only gradually being deployed to users. Google has lastly dealt with a variety of bugs, such as ones affecting stability and security. Chrome for iOS runs on any device supporting iOS 5 or later.
