BlackBerry leaks BBM manuals for iOS, Android, hints at launch
Friday, August 23, 2013 @ 5:41am

BlackBerry could be launching the cross-platform version of its messaging system in the near future, after user guides for BlackBerry Messenger on Android and iOS were discovered. The appearance of the manuals on BlackBerry's support pages, now removed, suggest that the app will be released before the end of the summer, as previously advised by the company.

The guides spotted by N4BB do not show what the final app will look like, instead providing help via directions and icons only, but considering the similar details and iconography, it seems that BlackBerry is attempting to have a uniform user experience across all devices. The basic level of instruction provided is aimed more at the new user to BBM, with existing BBM participants not likely to learn anything new from the manuals. BlackBerry is said to have sent invitations to Beta Zone users for testing the apps, while Samsung revealed that it will be providing the BBM app through the Samsung App Store alongside Google Play, with Galaxy users in Africa first in line to download it.
