Sony Cybershot RX10 uses 20.2MP sensor, 24-200mm Carl Zeiss lens
Wednesday, October 16, 2013 @ 6:27am

Sony has added another bridge-style camera to its RX range, one which uses the same 1-inch 20.2-megapixel BSI Exmor R CMOS sensor as the RX100 II. The Cybershot RX10, launched at the same time as the A7 and A7R, uses a 24-200mm Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* zoom lens with an aperture of F2.8 at all focal lengths.

Using the same BIONZ X image processor as the A7 and A7R, it includes area-specific noise reduction, diffraction reduction, contrast detection autofocus with a lock-on AF, and an Eye AF that keeps the subjects eyes in focus regardless of where they are looking, and at 10fps with continuous autofocus. Offering an ISO of between 125 and 12,800, it is capable of recording 1080p video at 50p or 25fps, with a “clear” HDMI output for monitoring or external recording, and an adjustable audio level meter that monitors and alters the built-in microphone, mic socket, and headphone jack. On the back of the magnesium-alloy body is a tiltable three-inch White Magic LCD, along with a 1440-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, with images also able to be displayed directly on a 4K television. Onboard Wi-Fi and NFC allows it to be remotely controlled by a smartphone or tablet, to share photographs, or to view images on other home networked devices. Expected to ship next month, the Sony RX10 is priced at $1,300.
