Microsoft Remote Desktop client for OS X update for connectivity
Thursday, October 17, 2013 @ 9:43pm

Microsoft has issued a pair of updates to its Apple-oriented Remote Desktop applications. Earlier today, it released versions for iOS and Android. A few hours ago, Microsoft churned out a long-in-coming update with several improvements to the software for OS X, bringing some much-needed enhancement and fixes to the software.

The new version of Microsoft Remote Desktop allows access to remote resources through the Remote Desktop Gateway, and gives a secure connection to data and applications with Network Layer Authentication (NLA) technology. It provides simple management of all remote connections from the connection center, streams high quality video and audio with improved compression and bandwidth usage, allows for easy connection to multiple monitors or projectors for presentations, enables printing from Windows applications to any printer configured on the client Mac, and provides access to local files on the client Mac from Windows applications. The new OS X version of the software requires OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or greater. The software is free, and available from the Mac App Store.
