Fujifilm shiping 16.3MP X-E2 in November, 12MP XQ1 this month
Friday, October 18, 2013 @ 6:32am

Fujifilm has added another two more cameras to its range of retro-styled cameras. The X-E2 serves as an upgrade to last year's X-E1 with a number of overall improvements, while the XQ1 premium compact camera replaces the XF1 with a similar but thinner construction that retains the styling and 4x optical zoom lens of the original.

Packing a 16.3-megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor, the X-E2 adds an original color filter array, something which eliminates the need for an optical low pass filter. The new EXR Processor II helps add a faster autofocus and more than doubling the processing speed of the camera, giving it an AF speed of 0.08 seconds. ISO 100 to 25,600 is supported in the camera, which also has a pop-up flash, a 3-inch display with a 2.36-million dot OLED viewfinder, the ability to record 1080p video at 60fps with AF tracking, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The compact XQ1 sports a 12-megapixel X-Trans CMOS II sensor, ISO sensitivity between 100 and 12,800, and the same image processor as the X-E2, giving it a similarly-quick AF speed and shutter lag of 0.015 seconds. Packing an F1.8 25-100mm zoom lens and a 920k-dot, 3-inch LCD on the rear, it has a control ring fitted around the lens for accessing menu functions, and can record 1080p video at 60fps with five film simulation modes. The X-E2 will be shipping in November at a coat of $1,000 for the body alone, or $1,400 as a bundle with an 18-55mm f/2.8 lens. The XQ1 is due later this month for $500.
