Google Chromecast goes on sale in Canada, United Kingdom, Europe
Wednesday, March 19, 2014 @ 6:06am

Google is performing its first major international expansion of its Chromecast streaming HDMI dongle, making it available to purchase outside of the United States for the first time. Residents in a total of 11 more countries can now buy the device through Google Play and retailers, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and a number of other European countries.

Google has attempted to take into account regional tastes and services with this new roll-out. In the UK, it has added support for the BBC iPlayer, with France TV Pluzz and SFR TV enabled and CANALPLAY coming soon in France, and a similar situation in Germany with Watchever and Maxdrome. It is likely the device will be made available in more countries, as a recent update to the Chromecast software added support for over 50 languages.
