Why is it an issue now? You know how Apple operates, and so what?

based on product that are already available and extrapolate. There are many good reasons for secrecy of future products. If Apple is more secretive than other companies, it is because Apple sells products that are unique. Only Apple sells iPods and Macs. Other non-iPod music player companies and non-Mac PC companies compete with other companies that sell very similar products. They are therefore motivated to announce the next great thing months in advance so that some customers are motivated to wait and not purchase the competitor's product today. With Apple, announcing the next release would only cause some customers to delay their purchase. Since the customer cannot go to another company to get an iPod or Mac, Apple is motivated to keep future products and their release dates secret.
