Application Menu

The Application Menu has undergone a few changes. First, it now displays the name of the program along with its icon, although this can be toggled on or off to conserve menu bar space by simply clicking the separator bar next to it. Second, the menu can now be "ripped off" so that a window appears with your current list of applications. The window is always in the foreground and can be minimized to only show the icons so as to conserve room. Mac OS 8.5 also introduces the command-tab program switcher, which other utilities (such as MS Office 98) have provided in the past. By pressing command-tab, you switch to the next application in the application menu list.
