New Additions
September 7, 1998
- The main page now has a smaller screen shot (640x480 instead of 800x600) so that your browser's window won't have to be quite as large (or at least require less scrolling).
- The image maps on the main page are now functioning properly, so you can click on various portions of the screen shot to be taken to those areas in the tour.
- As several readers noted, the Internet control panel section didn't display the correct image when the "Web" link was clicked. This has been fixed.
- A couple readers pointed out that the reason the Memory control panel shows only 124 MB of actual RAM in the Virtual Memory section is because of the RAM Disk. This is not new to 8.5, but (surprisingly) your editor never realized this before...
- We have added a screen shot of the Disk First Aid scan/repair procedure that occurs at startup after a crash.
- There are a few new additions to the General Interface section.
- One reader noted that both the DialAssist and Remote Access control panels didn't make their debut with the iMac, but rather have been include as part of Apple's commercially distributed Apple Remote Access software suite.
- The Remote Access section has been updated with some new information.
- The Gizmo/Hi-Tech theme sreen shots have also been reduced to 640x480.
- We have added a new section for the Help Menu and the new Help Center.
- We have also added a Reader's Letters section where a handful of the emails that we've recieved regarding the tour can be found. Some ask questions (that we answer), while others simply offer praise (which makes us feel cool ;).
