Chronomenon is a versatile alarm/timer program for your Macintosh. It sports two primary features; first, it can be used as a timer for any purpose you wish, such as when you need to take a break to watch The Simpsons, or when you need to finish a review by. The second, much more powerful feature of Chronomenon is it's function as an alarm clock. It can be set to go off at any time you desire. When the alarm goes off it can do any of the following for you: crow like a rooster (using an actual recorded rooster crow), speak a message that you put in when you set the alarm, play a QuickTime movie, or play a CD

These features are also very well implemented. They can all be set to play indefinitely (until you turn off the alarm) or for a preset amount of time. The message can easily be changed, as can the selected movie, and the CD can be programmed to play whatever song or songs you choose.

The best part about this product is how many different ways you can configure it. If you just want a single track to play, you can convert it into a QT movie with this program. The CD options are entirely programmable and it's easier to switch the time the alarm goes off in Chronomenon then on my alarm clock. Although this program can not be used if the computer is in sleep mode, you can simply program the computer to wake up a few minutes before the alarm through the Energy Saver control panel.

This program is extremely useful as an alarm clock, and at just $1, it's much cheaper than buying a $55 CD alarm clock (although its not quite as attractive).   -PK
