Pros: much more powerful than Apple's calculator, user definable
Cons: text notation is used in place of most mathematical symbols
iCount is one of the most powerful calculators available for the Macintosh. It features an intuitive help system, 27 built-in functions as well as up to 50 user definable functions--lots more than most could probably use. For most users, the most important thing is finally having an easy to use calculator with the added functions of a scientific calculator that is in color.
Learning how to use the functions is simple. All one has to do is hold down the shift key while clicking a button on the calculator and the help system tells you what that key does. If you are tired of going to the Apple Menu to load the calculator, iCount is perfect for you. Just put an alias of it in your Startup Items folder in your System Folder and then after you power up your Mac, just click its minimized icon button for a convenient access on the desktop.
A great feature that many may overlook is the Drag and Drop functionality built into iCount. If you're a writer of technical publisher, you can use iCount to write all of your mathematical equations quicker than most equation editors. Then just drag and drop your equation into your word processor or page layout program.
iCount is ideal for anyone seeking a more robust calculator in a pint size package. -JE
